Meet Michael Jamieson
Founder of MJ Swim Academy
“I started out in All Saints School with Glasgow City Council, swam at the Glasgow School of Sport in Bellahouston Academy and City of Glasgow Swim Team as a developing age grouper, after beginning my club journey with Scotia in Bishopbriggs.
Throughout my professional career; travelling all over the world, competing and winning medals at every level of international competition, I always had an incredible amount of support from the people of Glasgow, so I felt very humbled and grateful to launch the Swim Academy in the city where it all began for me.
To have the opportunity to share everything I’ve learned along the way and give back to swimming by creating a similar experience for developing young athletes alongside an amazing team is truly special.
Being a product of the system gives me the platform to improve and enhance the learning of young swimmers here in Glasgow and Edinburgh. I’m extremely passionate about providing a learning environment to develop people through the sport of swimming.”

The MJ Swim Academy
Michael retired from professional swimming in 2016 and began the MJ Swim Academy soon after. Since then, the business has grown rapidly. By 2020 Michael and his team were instructing 800 children and young people every week and have plans in place to increase this to 1,300 by the end of 2023.
Michael and his nearly-30 strong team regularly teach children as young as 6 months old all the way up to pensioners how to swim each and every week in a number of excellent facilities across Glasgow and Edinburgh. These include the University of Glasgow, Edinburgh university, and Hamilton College. Classes are intentionally kept small to allow for more 1:1 tuition, so if you’d like to learn to swim in Glasgow or Edinburgh, book now to avoid disappointment.
